Two major cybersecurity concerns for the college 

There were two main concerns that Barnet and Southgate College had regarding their cybersecurity. They were frequently targeted by threat actors with phishing scams, and they used more than one service for users to sign into accounts, both of which created a riskier IT environment.  

Recommendations for reducing cybersecurity risks in an education environment 

After a thorough investigation and audit, Fuse recommended that the college reduce the risk of being compromised by deploying multi-factor authentication (MFA) into their environment. Additionally, they advised that the college extend the Azure Active Directory for Office 365 they were already using, to integrate it with their other existing services. Azure Active Directory includes a cloud-based MFA service and has the capabilities to protect existing on-premise and cloud systems.

Results of implementing Azure Active Directory for Office 365 and MFA for a higher education college  

The results of the integration of systems and deployment of MFA have been widespread and positive. With all users required to have MFA set up, the risk for phishing scams and cyber attacks has decreased. The integration of the different systems under one main system has enhanced cybersecurity overall and improved the reliability of the cloud, administrative components, and infrastructure.
